Los Gatos Union School District $335 Parcel Tax: Argument Against Measure B

With this latest “temporary” parcel tax, the Los Gatos Union School District claims they need a tax increase to continue providing quality education with declining enrollment.

The district wants to extend the 8-year parcel tax passed in 2013 for another 8 years, even though voters rejected the 2017 parcel tax. And they want a $45 increase.

Have they earned this tax increase that will cost you over $2,680 over the next 8 years (on top of the taxes you are already paying)?

Let’s look at the latest English Literacy Results:

2019-20 school year results: 21.95% below grade level.

Let’s look at the latest Math Results:

2019-20 school year results: 23.49% below grade level.

Results DECLINED in both subjects from prior years.

The District rewarded students, parents, and taxpayers for the passage of the 2013 parcel tax by dropping English and math proficiency.

Should you, the voters, reward the district for dropping English and math proficiency?

If no, we encourage you to vote NO on Measure B.

The statewide elementary average expense per student is $13,489 per year. Los Gatos Union School District is $15,280 or 113% over the statewide average. Yet, they want more of your hard-earned money to pad their salaries and fat pension plans.

The measure says that none of the funds will be used for administration. But funds generated separately from this parcel tax can and will be used for administration expenses without limits. So, that is really an empty promise. Do not be fooled.

Tell the Los Gatos Union School Board to be fiscally responsible by voting NO on_Measure_B.

If you reward failure, you will get more failure!
