Celebrate with us! In 2018, taxpayers are celebrating the anniversaries of two enormous property-rights victories in California.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of California's landmark Proposition 13 ballot initiative, which nearly two-thirds of California’s voters passed, reducing property taxes by about 57 percent, and kicking off a revolution in the people's turning to the initiative process to gain greater control over their lives.
It also marks the 10th anniversary of SVTA's winning our
lawsuit against Santa Clara County's Open Space Authority and that agency's 2001 illegal "special assessment" on property owners.

David Wolfe, legislative director of Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association (founded by Prop. 13's coauthor) the only organization dedicated to the protection of Proposition 13 and the advancement of taxpayers’ rights, including the right to limited taxation, the right to vote on tax increases and the right of economical, equitable and efficient use of taxpayer dollars.

About the speaker:
David Wolfe has been legislative director of Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association (HJTA) since 2006. He closely monitors and communicates state legislative activity, writing position letters, creating an annual Report Card for all 120 legislators, and contributing to HJTA’s quarterly, Taxing Times.
David testifies on hundreds of bills on behalf of California taxpayers, many of which undercut Propositions 13 and 218. He has also worked on a variety of initiative campaigns to defeat taxes and/or advocate for property rights, and he coordinates HJTA candidate endorsements through the association’s political action committee.
