GUEST SPEAKER
JOHN INKS,
Mayor of Mountain View
Third Thursday Taxpayers Toolkit Meeting
* * *
As a fan of small government, Mayor Inks promises a fresh perspective to those of us living in some neighboring cities, where spending runs rampant. He’ll address how hard it is to control spending, citing specific examples of the sort of spending we taxpayers should be on the lookout for, and he’ll explain why setting priorities is crucial.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
John Inks is a retired spacecraft mechanical engineer who’s lived in Mountain View since 1975. He has an extensive civic career as City mediator, Parks and Recreation commissioner and commission chair, and Planning Commissioner and commission chair.
Inks first ran for Mountain View City Council in 2006, but wasn’t elected until his 2008 run--in which he squeaked in, coming in fourth for the four open seats. After his 2012 reelection, his fellow Councilmembers elected him Mayor in 2013.
Inks’s public policy interests include strong economic and personal freedom, property rights, and businesses growth & development. He opposes higher government regulation, taxes, fees, and spending in general.
